Here are the reasons why you need a simple, quick way to write SOPs:
1) Clinical governance facilitators from your PCTs are inspecting your pharmacies and interviewing your staff. 2) Both they and the RPSGB inspectors will expect you to have your machine printed SOPs in place and to be working on the ones you have not written yet. 3) RPSGB recommends that your staff are involved in the development of your SOPs so they take ownership. 4) RPSGB recommends an SOP for each dispensary activity. 5) The new contract demands one SOP for each enhanced and advanced service and for healthcare advice given. 6) The number of SOPs you will need will eventually amount to 100 or more. 7) The only other systems available now, require that you type out your own SOP from scratch, using the blank templates available. 8) This takes two to three hours and as your time costs at least £20 per hour that’s about £50 per SOP. £300 for just the first six!!
